Attendance Newsletter

10/17/23, 10:29 AM

Good morning McMeen Families!

We have a goal this year around improving student attendance. We know that consistent attendance is super important for student academic success and can have big impacts on social emotional success as well. As such, we want to increase our communication and information around attendance. One way we plan to do that is through a weekly newsletter to share how attendance is going on a school-wide level. Below is the first of these newsletters.

If attendance is a concern for your child, we will be reaching out so we can work together to make a plan with you.

School-wide Attendance Goal: At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, our overall attendance rate will be at least 89%. Our number of students who are considered chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school) will reduce to 48%.

Celebrations from Last Week:

  • 4th Grade had 90% attendance last week (most grade-levels were below 89% during the short week)
  • Our school’s overall attendance rate thus far is 89%
  • ECE, 3rd, and 4th Grades had an increase in attendance last week over the previous week

Idea of the Week: We know consistent attendance can be hard and that there are multiple things that are playing into that as a family. We encourage you to set small goals. For example, if arriving on time is a challenge, start with a goal of once per week!
