🌙 Accommodations for Students Observing Ramadan DPS will offer non-congregate meals to students fasting during Ramadan to consume offsite at a time that honors their religious principles. To request non-congregate meals for your child between March 3-21, contact McMeen's kitchen manager the week prior. When you call, please let us know:
‼️ Kiss-and-Go Closed Kiss-and-Go is closed for the foreseeable future to increase safety for all members of our community. When dropping off your students on Tennessee, please approach McMeen heading eastbound. This will allow you to pull over directly in front of the school so your child doesn't have to cross the street.
📞 Keychains With Emergency Contact Numbers In response to recent immigration raids, blue keychains with emergency contact numbers have been clipped to every student’s backpack. This is a safety measure in the event that students get separated from their adult/s. The phone number listed on the keychain is for Assistant Principal Lauren Bartsch. We suggest you add a personal number on the back of the keychain as well - you can write it with a Sharpie.
🍕 Pizza Party Winners! We value communication at McMeen and are always working to improve. Thank you for filling out our communication survey and entering your child's classroom in a lottery to win a pizza party. The winner is Mr. Roa's class! Mr. Roa's students will enjoy free pizza in class whenever works best for them.
👠 School Play: The Not So Mysterious Disappearance of Cinderella Join us on Monday, March 17th or Tuesday, March 18th from 3-4:30 p.m. at McMeen to watch our students perform! They have been practicing hard on their play, "The Not So Mysterious Disappearance of Cinderella." Come show your support!
🎨 Arts Night & Talent Show March 12th Don't forget to join us for our Arts Night & Talent show on Wednesday, March 12th from 4-6 p.m. You can make creative creations with your student at Arts Night and then check out the Talent Show performance. Plus, we will be raffling off 15 bikes! You must be present to win.
📝 Resource Guides for Families Our Community Liaison, Jean, has put together a resource guide for families. It includes information on housing, food, clothing, medical and dental care, and more. Check it out in English, Spanish or Arabic.
👓👂 Vision and Hearing Screenings: Free Service from DPS Health care providers will conduct FREE hearing and vision tests for all ECE-3rd and 5th grade students on March 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th. If your student wears corrective lenses, please make sure they are wearing them to school, especially on the days of the screenings.
