Hello McMeen Families,
Every school year seems to have health issue themes. This year, one common theme has been lice.
Please continue to routinely check your students' hair for lice and follow the CDC's guidelines on how to avoid lice. https://www.cdc.gov/lice/about/head-lice.html
For over-the-counter treatment information, click here: https://www.cdc.gov/lice/hcp/clinical-care/index.html
If you have any questions or concerns about treatment, please reach out to Nurse Miriam.
If you find that you've had to treat your student for lice, with over-the-counter treatment, multiple times this year, and they still seem to keep getting lice, it also may be a good idea to reach out to your pediatrician for prescriptive help.
We know that lice is a huge inconvenience to families. Unfortunately, lice is a consistent mainstay to school settings throughout the world. The most effective way to keep kids from getting lice is to regularly check their hair at home and to stay on top of educating your child on the importance of avoiding head-to-head contact with others, and not sharing hats, brushes etc.
Thank you,
|
