NOVEMBER 2024

📚 Read-a-thon
When: November 1 - December 1
Details: Open a book, open your world! Read-a-thon is also PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year. Make sure to track your at-home reading minutes. If you need language for requesting donations, check out our digital toolkits online (mcmeenpto.org/read) in English, Spanish, and Arabic.

🍁 Family Lunch at McMeen
When: Thursday, November 14 @ 10:30-1:30 PM (during your student’s lunch period)
Details: Join your student at McMeen's annual Family Lunch. If you would like to eat school lunch with your child, adult tickets are $7 and children tickets (for non-students) are $6. You can purchase tickets at the main office.

🎥 McMeen Family Movie Night
When: Friday, November 15 @ 5:00-7:00 PM | Flyer
Details: Bring your family and join us for a screening of WALL-E. Popcorn, Cookies, Chip & Lemonade will be available for sale. All students must be accompanied by an adult. See flyer for details and a chance to receive a free popcorn!

📚 Read-a-thon Spirit Week
When: November 18 - 22
Details: Show your Read-a-thon spirit during spirit week!

• Mustang Monday, November 18: Mustangs love to read! Wear mustang blue or your favorite McMeen spirit gear.
• Travel Tuesday, November 19: Books transport us! Wear a shirt that reminds you of somewhere you’ve traveled.
• Wacky Wednesday, November 20: Read a silly story! Wear a crazy outfit.
• Character Thursday, November 21: Read a book you love! Dress like your favorite character.
• PJ Friday, November 22: Cozy up and read! Wear your pajamas.

📚 Read-a-thon - Ends
When: December 1
Details: Remember to turn in your reading and donation trackers on Monday, December 2.

🗓 Family Engagement Night: CSC & DL
When: Monday, December 3 @ 4:00-6:00 PM (CSC 4-5 PM | DL 5-6 PM)
Details: This year, CSC, Dual Language, and PTO meetings will be held in-person as part of family engagement nights. Childcare and dinner provided. Spanish and Arabic translation available.

🍽 McMeen Eats @ Esters
When: Monday, November 9 @ 4:00 - 8:00 PM | Flyer
Where: Esters, 1950 S Holly St., Denver, CO 80222
Details: Dine-in or order pick-up from Esters on November 9, and they will donate 25% of sales right back to the McMeen PTO! Show the flyer or mention “McMeen" at checkout. For online order put “McMeen” in the notes.

The McMeen Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) exists for the purpose of supporting the education and well-being of children at McMeen by fostering relationships among the students, families, staff, and community. This mission is accomplished through volunteer support, fundraising efforts, community-building events, and teacher and programmatic support. Membership is free and open to all McMeen families and staff.
