Your Voice/Tu Voz Family Survey
The DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” Family Survey is open now through Friday, Nov. 1. This survey focuses on measuring outcomes across the district and its learnings directly impact students and families.

As you might remember, we are working with an organization called Capturing Kids' Hearts to empower our students to grow into leaders! This month, we're challenging students to practice self-direction by envisioning their future goals and taking intentional steps towards who they want to be. Help your child practice self-direction at home by using the tips outlined in the attached flyers.
Winter Enrichments
DPS will be offering before and after school programming at McMeen this winter (Dec. 2, 2024 through Feb. 21, 2025). Registration opens at 6 a.m. on Oct. 17 and closes at 10 p.m. on Oct. 29. For more information on how to register your child, please see this link.
Trunk or Treat
George Washington High School is hosting a Trunk or Treat event for local elementary schools, and they'd love to see McMeen students there! Meet in the George Washington High School south parking lot on Oct. 30 from 4-6 p.m., and be sure your student wears their favorite Halloween costume. There will be games and candy!
Thursday Folders: Volunteers Needed Oct. 16 and 17
In order to increase communication with families, McMeen will be sending home important information each week in Thursday folders. Students will bring home folders on Thursdays. Parents should send them back to school to be reused the following week. We are seeking volunteers on Wednesdays and Thursdays to support this effort on an ongoing basis. Sign up to volunteer.
Save the Dates: Book Reading with Author Denise Vega & Bookies Book Fair
Kick off our read-a-thon with the Bookies Book Fair and a special reading for McMeen students of Adela's Mariachi Band with local author Denise Vega! More details to come. In the meantime, mark your calendars:

Join our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) The McMeen Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) supports the education of children at McMeen and fosters relationships among McMeen's students, families, staff, and community. This mission is accomplished through volunteer support, fundraising efforts, community-building events, and teacher and programmatic support. Membership is free and open to all McMeen families and staff.
