🎒 Lost and Found Cleanout
Has your child lost any of their belongings at school? Today (February 28th) is your last chance to pick up their items before they are donated! You can find their belongings on the McMeen blacktop - they will be there until after dismissal.
🎁 Free Items
On Saturday, March 1st, the Buy Nothing Group of Virginia Village will be giving away free items! All are invited to pick up free items at 5300 E Florida Ave from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. If you cannot attend but need an item, please contact McMeen parent Sharon Duerkop at sharon5k8@gmail.com and she will try to pick up what you need.
🌙 Ramadan Begins Tomorrow Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of discipline, gratitude, reflection and community. In the spirit of Ramadan, we encourage families to reflect on what they're grateful for, spend time together, and show kindness to others. This month, your student can greet their classmates by saying "Happy Ramadan!"
🎨 Family Art Social: Donations Needed Our annual Family Art Social will be on Wednesday, March 12th! Please consider donating toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls and broken down Amazon boxes for families to use as art supplies by March 5th. Donations can be dropped off at the main office or sent to school with your child.
‼️ Kiss-and-Go Closed As a reminder from the message that went out today, Kiss-and-Go is closed for the foreseeable future. This is in an effort to increase safety for all members of our community. Thank you for your cooperation.
📢 Thank You For Your Input! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on McMeen communication through our survey! We heard that parents would prefer all communication to go through one app. We plan to use one central app to communicate next school year - more information coming soon!
💉 In-School Immunization Clinic Your student can get vaccinated for free at McMeen on March 11th and 13th! All you need to do is fill out a consent form. See here for more information and the consent form.
💛 Courage in Action This March, we will celebrate students who step outside their comfort zones and live with courage! This helps them learn, grow, and face challenges with confidence. You can help your child be courageous by letting them try new things in a safe environment and by reminding them that failure is a part of learning (and life)! 🤝 Supporting Our Community McMeen families have stepped up and asked for guidance on how to support our new to country families. You can find information about how to help here. We are so grateful for this community and the ways we look out for one another!
👓👂 Vision and Hearing Screenings: Free Service from DPS Health care providers will conduct FREE hearing and vision tests for all ECE-3rd and 5th grade students during the second week of March. Nurse Miriam will reach out to you if there are any concerns.
