Upcoming Happenings TODAY, September 6th 4th and 5th Grade Soccer Registration Ends at Midnight Register your 4th or 5th grader for our Fall Soccer League by midnight tonight. You can register them here. TODAY, September 6th EXTENDED TO Monday September 9th CSC Nominations Due: date extended to Monday Sept. 9th at noon McMeen has 3 parent openings and 1 community member opening on our Collaborative School Committee. If you want to be on the ballot, please fill out the nomination form.
Being a part of the CSC is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the McMeen community and participate in the education of our students. We meet every month and will have a few extra meetings during the month of February. We ask that CSC members participate in the meetings and commit to being a member for two years, or one year where it applies. For more information, contact Principal Hinman at andria_hinman@dpsk12.net or speak with a current CSC representative. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Additionally, there will be a CSC training on September 25th from 5:30-7pm for those selected to the committee. Thursday, September 12th Family Engagement Night (CSC and PTO) 4-5 p.m. Collaborative School Committee (CSC) Meeting Dinner and childcare will be provided. Saturday, September 14th School Clean Up Day Join us at McMeen from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to help clean up our campus! Family Playbook
Here is the family and student playbook for the 24-25 school year. Please find time to read through the playbook and share expectations with your student.
Fall Picture Day is Coming!
LifeTouch will be here on Oct. 4th and 5th to take student pictures. Please make sure your student is in attendance on these days.
Electric/ Motorized Bikes and Scooters
We ask that you dismount all electric or motorized scooters and bikes at the parking lot before coming onto the blacktop/playground area. Due to the amount of people moving about, this has become a safety issue. Thank you for your understanding.
Class Dojo
We've heard that Class Dojo has been asking parents to pay for a subscription. You will never need to pay for Class Dojo; the McMeen team uses the free version. You will not miss any McMeen information by using the free version.
BESS Parent Survey
Please fill out this BESS survey about your child's social emotional and mental health strengths and needs by Oct. 18. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete! You will need to input your student's ID number, which can be found in the parent portal. If you have questions, please email Julie Magnuson at julie_magnuson@dpsk12.org.

Capturing Kids' Hearts
We're working with Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) to empower McMeen students to grow into leaders. As a part of this work, every month we focus on a specific value here at McMeen. During September, we will be focusing on empathy.
As we promote empathy here at school, we encourage you to promote empathy at home with your student. You can help your child practice empathy by:

Join our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) The McMeen Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) supports the education of children at McMeen and fosters relationships among McMeen's students, families, staff, and community. This mission is accomplished through volunteer support, fundraising efforts, community-building events, and teacher and programmatic support. Membership is free and open to all McMeen families and staff.
