💛 Perseverance in Action In April, we are celebrating perseverance at McMeen. We suggest teaching your child the phrase “mistakes help us grow!” This will help your child understand that it’s okay to make mistakes, and that mistakes can be an opportunity to learn. See here for more ideas on how to encourage perseverance.
💉 Message From Nurse Miriam Did you know? The measles vaccine is 97% effective! Make sure you and your family are up to date with the vaccine to increase immunity at McMeen. There are currently 3 confirmed cases of measles in Colorado. To protect everyone at McMeen, it is important that at least 95% of our community is immune to measles. This will make it hard for infection to spread. Learn more here.
🗣 Students Learning 2 Languages Can Earn a Certificate! Students who are learning two or more languages are eligible to receive a certificate at the end of the year! The “Pathways to the Seal of Biliteracy” certificate will indicate that they are on track to earn the Seal of Biliteracy when they graduate from high school in DPS. Contact Ms. Bartsch to sign your child up to complete activities and receive a certificate. Your child's work is due May 9th. See here for the list of activities you can do with your child in April.
⚾ McMeen Day at the Rockies The Colorado Rockies offer specially discounted tickets to recognized Title 1 schools, so that students and their families can enjoy Major League Baseball at an affordable price. A portion of proceeds benefit McMeen PTO. Learn more and get your ticket here.
🌺 Spring Class Meet-Ups Classroom Ambassadors are scheduling class meet-ups for the spring. This is a great opportunity to get to know other McMeen families. Dates for the remaining grades coming soon!
