24th - 31st: NO SCHOOL (Spring Break)

APRIL

1st: School resumes

3rd: Basketball Game at Dora Moore 4:30 p.m.

3rd: Bingo Night 5-6:30 p.m. Pizza served

18th: NO SCHOOL (Teacher Planning Day)

22nd: Family Engagement Night 4-6 p.m.

Collaborative School Committee 4-5 p.m.

Dual Language Parent Meeting 5-6 p.m.

26th: Dia Del Niño 12-2 p.m.

🌺 Spring Break: March 24th-31st

There is NO SCHOOL all next week and the following Monday (March 24th-31st). We will see you back at McMeen on Tuesday, April 1st. If your family is in need of food over the break, Tasty Food offers free meals and snacks for children ages 3-18. No ID required. Learn more here. Plus, all McMeen families are welcome to take bags of food from the black tubs on the playground. Please help us keep it tidy. Thank you!

🥕 McMeen Food Market Is Expanding!

McMeen food distribution is moving to Wednesdays from 1:45-3 p.m. We will have more food - enough to feed 100 families! Please bring bags, boxes or wagons. We also need volunteers and drivers to support our new market! Call or text Jean at 303-875-4229 to volunteer or sign up here.

💉 Immunization Resources

If your student was unable to get immunizations at McMeen last week, don’t worry! There are still many ways to get your family is up-to-date with their immunizations. The Denver Health School Based Centers provide NO COST care to ALL DPS students. Learn more here.

📅 Mark Your Calendars For Bingo Night

Multilingual Bingo Night is Thursday, April 3rd from 5-6:30 p.m. at McMeen. There will be free pizza and great prizes!

🌎 Multicultural Corner: English and Arabic

Did you know? Many English words have Arabic origins! For example:

"Cotton" comes from qutn, قطن
"Camel" comes from jamal, جمل
"Gazelle" comes from ghazal, غزال
"Giraffe" comes from zaraafa, زرافة
"Coffee" comes from qahwah, قهوة
