Hi McMeen Families,

Happy October! There are three things we wanted to highlight for you this month.

1) Classroom Ambassadors Program Launch
The Classroom Ambassadors Program has officially launched! Watch ClassDojo for announcements, dates for class meet-ups, and opportunities to get to know other McMeen families. (If you’re not on ClassDojo yet, talk to your student’s teacher.)

2) McMeen Clothing Drive

Life Time Fitness and We Don’t Waste are collaborating on a clothing drive benefitting McMeen students in need. Please consider donating new or gently used coats, hats, gloves or mittens, shirts, pants, boots, or shoes. You may drop off donations at the McMeen front desk now through November 5th. Learn more.

3) Read-a-thon begins next month
Did you know that the shift from learning to read to reading to learn happens around 4th grade? This critical skill helps students become independent learners and better equipped for success in school and beyond. To help encourage literacy development and get families involved in the process, McMeen PTO will host its annual Read-a-thon fundraiser next month, November 1 thru December 2. Interested in helping out? Sign upto be on the planning committee.

🏫 Parent-Teacher Conferences
When: October 8-9
Details: Remember to sign up for a time with your student's teacher!

🗓 Family Engagement Night: CSC & Dual Language
When: Wednesday, October 9 @ 4:00-6:00 PM (CSC 4-5 PM | DL 5-6 PM)
Details: This year, CSC, Dual Language, and PTO meetings will be held in-person as part of family engagement nights. Childcare and dinner provided. Spanish and Arabic translation available.

🌟 Multilingual Bingo Night
When: Tuesday, October 22 @ 5:00-6:30 PM | Flyer
Details: Come have fun and practice your numbers and letters in 3 languages—English, Spanish, and Arabic—at Family Bingo Night. Free pizza and prizes!

When: Wednesday, November 6 @ 4:00 - 8:00 PM (Flyer)
Where: Chipotle, 820 S Monaco Parkway, Unit 1B

The McMeen Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) exists for the purpose of supporting the education and well-being of children at McMeen by fostering relationships among the students, families, staff, and community. This mission is accomplished through volunteer support, fundraising efforts, community-building events, and teacher and programmatic support. Membership is free and open to all McMeen families and staff.
