Teller Elementary School

Incident at Teller Today

08/24/23, 4:59 PM

Dear Teller Families,

First and foremost, I want to apologize for not getting this letter out sooner. I pride myself in keeping Teller families informed of any and all incidents related to our school, however, the incident that occurred today required my full support, which in turn prolonged family communication.

With that being said, at about 9:30 a.m., I instructed a staff member to call 911 to assist one of our teachers. Denver Fire Department and paramedics arrived on scene. The teacher needed to be transported to the hospital to receive additional medical support. As the teacher was being taken out of the building to the ambulance, some of our students witnessed this event.

In addition to the Denver Fire Department and paramedics being on site, we also had officers from the Denver Police Department supporting the incident.

I understand that such incidents can be unsettling, and I want to assure you that the safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority. While today's events have necessitated the presence of emergency personnel in our building, I want to emphasize that their presence was solely due to the incident involving the classroom teacher.

Our teacher is now home and resting. If you have any questions or concerns regarding today’s event, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Sabrina Bates, Principal
