14. Attention 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families: Fall CogAT Testing
If you are interested in having your child take the CogAT assessment this fall, please complete the nomination form. Applications can be found at the link here. Applications for testing are due by 5 PM on Friday, October 11th.
Students can only take one cognitive assessment per calendar year, so if your child was already given the NNAT or the CogAT in the past calendar year (spring 2022), they cannot be assessed again this fall. New guidance for the 2024-25 school year advises that students should only take cognitive tests once every three years. After reviewing our nomination testing processes and score outcomes, DPS GT recommends not nominating students every year for cognitive testing. If your child is in Kindergarten or 2nd grade, there is no need to sign up for cognitive testing since the NNAT and NGAT are already provided to all K and 2nd grade students who are not already identified.
To find out more information about CogAT testing and GT programming, please visit DPS's GT website at https://gt.dpsk12.org/o/gifted or reach out to Marian Dorsey at marian_dorsey@dpsk12.org.

16. Afterschool Support Message from Shelley St. John
Hi everyone! My name is Shelley St. John and I’ve been picking kids up from Teller Elementary for ten years. I have four boys that all went through Teller. I just show up like their mama and we usually play at Teller for an hour or so and then we head to my house. I live near 22nd and York. I have a spring free trampoline that kids love and a big yard. I’m open to taking 2-3 more kids this year. I’m available to pick up for the early Friday as well. I need the parents to pick up by 5-5:30. My other business is tutoring math. I start at 5:30 every day and teach mostly high school math but I always enjoy getting math facts memorized with the kids I watch from Teller. Feel free to contact me for more information.
