Teller Power Outage

Dear Teller Families,

This afternoon at 2:10 p.m., Teller experienced a power outage during our final Fun Run (5th grade). Please know that at no time were students in danger, and our staff responded quickly and effectively to ensure everyone remained safe.

Because we had no prior notice of the outage, some students were in the hallways, restrooms, or other areas when the building suddenly went dark. Other staff members and I immediately went classroom by classroom to reassure students that the power had gone out, that we were safe, and that we would remain in our classrooms since the hallways were dark.

Our amazing staff quickly jumped into action to coordinate a safe and orderly dismissal. Since we had no access to power or school phones, teachers, enrichment providers, and Discovery Link staff used personal cell phones to contact families and arrange early student pick-ups. Thank you for responding so quickly to our app push notifications and phone calls!

One key takeaway from today’s power outage was that several Teller students had outdated emergency contact information in Infinite Campus, making it difficult to reach some parents and guardians. Please take a moment to log into Infinite Campus Parent Portal to verify that your contact information is up to date. Keeping this information current ensures we can reach you quickly in any future emergency.

All after school enrichment and music classes were canceled, and our instructors remained on-site until every student was picked up by a parent/guardian or a verified adult in Infinite Campus. Since instructors remained on-site to ensure student safety, there will be no refunds or makeup classes.

For families affected by Discovery Link's cancellation, Megan will be sending out information next week regarding the possibility of a refund.

We are grateful to be part of such a supportive and responsive community. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we navigated this unexpected situation together. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With appreciation,

Sabrina Bates, Principal
