1) Broken Pipe

At approximately 11:35 a.m. today, a pipe burst in the boys' restroom near the gym, causing the restroom and nearby hallway to flood. Our Facility Manager promptly shut off the water to prevent further damage. A plumber arrived quickly and repaired the issue, and water service has since been restored and is functioning normally.

2) Winter Principal Report

Mrs. Bates shared her Winter Principal Report earlier this week, highlighting how our students are progressing both academically and in their social-emotional development. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, you can read the full report here—it’s well worth your time!

3) Lost and Found

This is a final reminder that tomorrow, Friday, April 4th, is the last day to pick up items from the lost and found! Any unclaimed items will be donated, so please take a moment to check today or tomorrow to see if your student is missing anything.

4) CMAS Testing Starts Next Week!

CMAS testing for all 3rd-5th grade students will start NEXT WEEK! Below you will find the schedule!

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) next week and throughout the month of April. CMAS is the state summative assessment for language arts, math, science and social studies. CMAS is aligned to the state’s rigorous academic standards and designed to gauge how well students are mastering the standards and are prepared for their next grade. Our students will be testing during the following weeks:

    • April 7-11th: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Language Arts
    • April 14th-18th:  4th and 5th Grade Math
    • April  21st-25th: 5th Grade Science and 3rd Grade Math
    • April 28th - May 2nd: Makeup Week for all grades and subjects

While participation in CMAS is important, we also want to remind you that families have the right to opt out of testing if they choose. We understand that each family has different perspectives, needs, and beliefs, and we fully support your right to make the best decision for your child. If you choose to opt out, please complete the attached form and submit it to the Main Office prior to the start of testing.

That being said, if your student is participating in CMAS testing, their attendance and punctuality of students is imperative throughout the testing time frame. If you know your student will be absent or tardy, please contact cheryl_ruiz@dpsk12.net and treisi_martinez@dpsk12.net asap. THIS IS VITAL.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact cheryl_ruiz@dpsk12.net and john-mark_aydelotte@dpsk12.org

5) Ridwell Plastic Recycling Drive

Teller Elementary is keeping plastic film out of landfills with Ridwell this spring! To participate in this limited-time recycling drive and celebrate Earth Month, bring plastic film (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to school on April 4, 11, and 25th.  Plastic bags/film can be dropped off at kiss and go or at the front desk. Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills. It’ll be turned into new decking materials instead! Recycling your plastic with Ridwell will also help our Teller Green Team retain our Eco Certification! Start collecting plastic film at home now so you have a bunch for the drive.

Curious about at-home recycling pickup from Ridwell? If you sign up for a household membership by May 23, you’ll also help earn pickup of the school’s plastic film for all of the ‘25/’26 school year (when 10 new members sign up).

Visit https://get.ridwell.com/teller for more information—and make sure you sign up through that page so your membership counts toward rewards for the school!
