10) CMAS REMINDER
In less than two months we will start CMAS testing for our 3rd-5th graders. Below you will find the schedule!
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking The Colorado Measures of Academic Success, or CMAS beginning in April. CMAS is the state summative assessment for language arts, math, science and social studies. CMAS is aligned to the state’s rigorous academic standards and designed to gauge how well students are mastering the standards and are prepared for their next grade. Our students will be testing during the following weeks:
-
- April 7-11th: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Language Arts
- April 14th-18th: 4th and 5th Grade Math
- April 21st-25th: 5th Grade Science and 3rd Grade Math
- April 28th - May 2nd: Makeup Week for all grades and subjects
While participation in CMAS is important, we also want to remind you that families have the right to opt out of testing if they choose. We understand that each family has different perspectives, needs, and beliefs, and we fully support your right to make the best decision for your child. If you choose to opt out, please complete the attached form and submit it to the Main Office as soon as possible.
That being said, if your student is participating in CMAS testing, their attendance and punctuality of students is imperative throughout the testing time frame. If you know your student will be absent, please contact cheryl_ruiz@dpsk12.net and treisi_martinez@dpsk12.net asap.
During testing, students will not have access to any of their personal technology. This includes cell phones, apple watches, etc. Students who bring these items to school will be asked to turn them into Mr. John and Ms. Cheryl for the duration of the testing period. If you need to contact your student during testing, you will need to call the main office.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact cheryl_ruiz@dpsk12.net and john-mark_aydelotte@dpsk12.org.
