1. THANK YOU GREGORY DOLAN AND OVERT GRAB & GO:

HUGE THANK YOU to Gregory Dolan and OVERT Grab & Go for providing lunch for the entire Teller staff on Thursday, August 29th!!! What an amazing gift after a night of Back to School Night presentations!

2. Smartwatch Communication and Illness Procedures

Dear Parents and Guardians, we want to remind all families about our policies regarding student communication during school hours and the procedure for students who are not feeling well.

Smartwatch/Phone/Tech Communication:

To minimize distractions and ensure that students are fully engaged in their learning, we request that students' smartwatches be set to "School Mode/Silent Mode" and placed in backpacks during the school day. This mode will limit the ability of students to send or receive text messages and phone calls, helping them stay focused on their academic activities and be less disruptive to the other students.

If your child needs to contact you during the school day, please remind them to use the school’s proper channels, such as visiting the school office or speaking with a teacher. Our staff is always available to assist with any urgent matters.

Procedure for Students Feeling Ill:

If your child is feeling unwell during the school day, they are required to check in with the school nurse before any decision is made about sending them home. This ensures that we can provide appropriate care.

Students should not contact you directly about their illness or request to leave school without first consulting the nurse. This procedure helps us ensure the health and safety of all students and allows us to manage any situation effectively.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a focused learning environment and ensuring that proper procedures are followed for student health and safety.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

3. GT Info Night (Thursday, September 5th-TONIGHT)

12. Attention 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families: Fall CogAT Testing

If you are interested in having your child take the CogAT assessment this fall, please complete the nomination form. Applications can be found here. Applications for testing are due by 5 PM on Friday, October 11th.

Students can only take one cognitive assessment per calendar year, so if your child was already given the NNAT or the CogAT in the past calendar year (spring 2024), they cannot be assessed again this fall. New guidance for the 2024-25 school year advises that students should only take cognitive tests once every three years. After reviewing our nomination testing processes and score outcomes, DPS GT recommends not nominating students every year for cognitive testing. If your child is in Kindergarten or 2nd grade, there is no need to sign up for cognitive testing since the NNAT and NGAT are already provided to all K and 2nd grade students who are not already identified.

To find out more information about CogAT testing and GT programming, please visit DPS's GT website at https://gt.dpsk12.org/o/gifted or reach out to Marian Dorsey at marian_dorsey@dpsk12.org.

Denver Public Schools performs Hearing and Vision Screenings annually.  Please see the attached document and review the bullet points below:

    3. Screening dates at Teller are scheduled for October 22nd Tuesday, 23rd Wednesday, and 24th Thursday.
