Teller Elementary School

Important Update: No School for Teller Students on Thursday, March 20th

03/18/25, 7:34 PM

Dear Teller Families,

I hope this message finds you well. Earlier today, you should have received a letter from our Superintendent, Dr. Marrero, outlining the district’s operational plan for Thursday, March 20th, 2025, in response to the No More Education Cuts Statewide Day of Action. If you did not receive his letter, you can access it here.

After reviewing anticipated staff absences, Teller will have a non-student contact day on Thursday, March 20th, meaning there will be no school for students that day. Below are a few important details to be aware of:

  • Spring Student-Led Conferences: These will continue as scheduled on Wednesday, March 19th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our students are so excited to share all their hard work with you!

  • Enrichment Classes & Concert Band: All Thursday enrichment classes, including Ms. Bartos’s Concert Band, are canceled. Cheryl Ruiz will reach out to affected families regarding either a makeup day or a refund by this Friday.

  • Discovery Link: The Department of Extended Learning and Community Schools will offer after-school care from 2:40 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for families who are registered on the Discovery Link platform. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Megan Gustafson.

  • Grab-and-Go Meals: Teller students can pick up a grab-and-go breakfast and/or lunch at Door 5 during the following times:

    • Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 7:40 a.m.

    • Lunch: 10:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

  • Thursday Folders & Important Documents: Since students will not be in school on Thursday, Thursday folders, grade-level newsletters, report cards, and March assessment binders will be sent home on Friday, March 21st.

  • Regular Schedule Resumes Friday: All schools, including Teller, will resume normal operations on Friday, March 21st, as previously scheduled.

I understand that unexpected schedule changes can be challenging for families, and I appreciate your flexibility and support as we navigate this district-wide decision. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best,

Sabrina Bates, Principal

Jason Smartt, Assistant Principal

Cheryl Ruiz, Dean of Operations
