The Details and Why It Matters:
When you purchase a tote, you’re not only supporting the incredible efforts of the Teller Compassion Project—you’re also helping provide five school meals to children in need, through our partnership with FEED.
Let’s come together to support our students and spread compassion—one tote bag at a time!
Did you know that since the Teller Compassion Project (TCP) started in September 2024, students across 3rd-5th grade have launched three separate Projects: Welcoming Newcomer Students and Families, BRAVE, and Room on the Shelf! It’s amazing how much these students have accomplished and how they have grown as leaders!
The Teller Compassion Project Student Leaders have created a number of initiatives to make a difference for our community!
- Launched the Teller Partner Family Program, matching veteran Teller families with Newcomer families to help them feel supported in the community and to ensure that they have knowledge and access to all of the things going on at Teller!
- Hosted a party for Teller Partner Family Program participants to get to know each other for the first time in a familiar space.
- Secured and hosted guest speakers for the December Human Rights Month school assembly. Two young adult sisters, originally from Somalia, shared what it was like for them when they attended school after resettling in Colorado as refugee children. Thanks to the PTA community for supporting this event by covering the honorarium for the speakers!
- Coordinated a winter clothing drive to ensure that Newcomer families had the items they needed for Colorado winter- thanks to all who donated winter wear!
- Launched TCP TV with the help of Mr. John, and started a program called “TCP Ask Me Three,” where TCP student leaders interview classmates and staff who are willing to share their lived experience so that they can learn about each other. TCP TV is shared during Pride Time in all grades!
- Created posters to educate the community about students with learning differences.
- Initiated a mentoring program to support 2nd grade students with reading.
- Submitted a grant to expand our library collection.
- Planned a surprise for 5th grade students to remind each that, “Your Story Matters.”
