1) CMAS Testing- Extra Recess Impact

Due to CMAS testing this week, we will not be offering extra recess throughout any of the testing days. With multiple classrooms and offices being used as testing spaces, maintaining a quiet environment is essential to ensure students can focus and do their best.

As an alternative, we will be going on neighborhood walks as a fun and calming “field trip” option. Students will still have their regular lunch and recess schedule, just not an extra recess on testing days.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this important testing period!

2) Ridwell Plastic Recycling Drive

Teller Elementary is keeping plastic film out of landfills with Ridwell this spring! To participate in this limited-time recycling drive and celebrate Earth Month, bring plastic film (ziploc bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to school on April 4, 11, and 25th.  Plastic bags/film can be dropped off at kiss and go or at the front desk. Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills. It’ll be turned into new decking materials instead! Recycling your plastic with Ridwell will also help our Teller Green Team retain our Eco Certification! Start collecting plastic film at home now so you have a bunch for the drive.

Curious about at-home recycling pickup from Ridwell? If you sign up for a household membership by May 23, you’ll also help earn pickup of the school’s plastic film for all of the ‘25/’26 school year (when 10 new members sign up).

Visit https://get.ridwell.com/teller for more information—and make sure you sign up through that page so your membership counts toward rewards for the school!

3) Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9: Seeking Student Submissions by April 18

Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner, taking place May 5-9! In celebration, DPS invites our students to recognize their favorite teachers by sharing what they love most about them. Please share this opportunity with students and ask them to share why they love their teachers by completing this short form by Friday, April 18. Please note that submissions may be featured on the DPS website and DPS social media pages (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn).

9) Infectious Disease Updates from Teller Nursing Office

HEALTH ALERT | Measles case identified in Pueblo County, Colorado | March 31, 2025

Please see the link below for more details on measles, and check your child's immunization records to make sure they are up to date with their measles vaccination. Teller's measles(MMR) immunization compliant rate is above the needed percentage for herd immunity, which is great! But please know that herd immunity does not protect every student from the measles, if they have not been vaccinated against it.
