Kiss-n-Go Tips for Success

09/17/23, 7:02 PM

Hey Teller Families: Did you know our Kiss-n-Go line services between 90-110 cars most mornings? This gives each car around 10-15 seconds to deliver their student to the sidewalk and keep things moving. Here are some tips for making things work more smoothly:

  • PLEASE do not let your student exit the vehicle on the “street side” of Jackson instead of the sidewalk side! This is extremely unsafe as vehicles sometimes fly through at 25-30 mph and the last thing we want is a student being hit by a car. If possible, rearrange your car seats so your Teller student is next to the sidewalk. If this isn’t possible, maybe the Kiss-n-Go lane isn’t for you?

  • Don’t let your student out before one of our staff members opens the door. You are still in the line and it won’t save any time. Just let us do our jobs and open the door. It’s part of the service!

  • Please don’t get out of your vehicle to help your student. You are creating a backup, and it isn’t fair to the students who are in their cars, ready and waiting behind you. Maybe park and walk in, or rearrange items in your vehicle. WE are willing to help with band instruments! Just let us know and we can grab it out of the front seat, trunk or wherever.

  • PLEASE have your student ready! Every day we see students who’s backpack is on the floor and seatbelt is still on, and are still eating breakfast and getting end-of-day instructions from Mom or Dad. 30 seconds to exit is way too long and creates a backup. Please be considerate of other parents and take care of business before rolling up.

  • If you are arriving after 7:40am, and the gate is closed, the Kiss-n-Go lane is also closed. Your student is tardy. Please drive around the block to Garfield and have your student enter at the front door to get a tardy slip at the front desk. The playground door closes at 7:40, and your student will have to walk around to the front of the school anyway.

Here's a funny video that illustrates some of the frustrations:

Seriously though, thank you all for your help and understanding as we get through this each morning!
