The open house will take place in our kindergarten classrooms and will start with a short presentation at 4:15pm and end with ample time to ask your questions! Spread the word and hope to see you there from 4:15pm - 5:00pm on Thursday!

Update: Music @ Dora Moore

We are so excited to provide an update in our quest to bring back comprehensive music programming to Dora Moore! With the support of our PTSA, we excitedly entered into a partnership with Education Through Music (ETM) Colorado in December and we are happy to report that Mr. Klopestine started teaching music last Tuesday! As we are not yet able to fund a full-time music teacher, the partnership has started by providing music class as an extra elective to all ECE - 3rd grade students! It's been amazing! Be sure to ask your student about Mr. K's music class!

Another exciting development, is we are starting to gauge interest regarding afterschool 4th - 8th grade small group or private voice and/or piano lessons. If you are interested in potentially getting your student involved in this opportunity at no cost, fill out this form: https://forms.gle/pqibxf2EnxYcTNih8

Interest will be used to gauge if this is something Dora Moore and the PTSA will pursue further.

As a reminder, we also have our after school Denver Children's Choir for 3rd - 5th grade students available on Tuesdays!

Curious Theatre Company Coming to Dora Moore!

With the help of the 4th and 5th grade teachers, a group of students applied for a grant to bring Curious Theatre to Dora Moore, and they won the grant! Yahoo!

Program Overview: “Curious in Community is a pilot program that consists of semester-long artist residencies in which youth will devise and/or perform a piece with guidance from Curious Theatre Company teaching artists, reflecting contemporary issues relevant to who they are as young people or how they see or process the world around
them.

As a mission-centered organization focused on operationalizing our value of “an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging.” Through Curious in Community, we plan to elevate this value outside of our walls in an exciting way for young people and teachers. The goals of the program are:
1. Amplify the power of theatre arts outside of the traditional theatre setting.
2. Meet youth where they are. This includes both emotional intelligence as well as geographic
location.
3. Build relationships with young people through a strengths-based approach to build confidence and
empower them to find their voices in ways they have not experienced before.

Through our after-school partnership with Dora Moore ECE-8, we have an opportunity to provide students with the many benefits of participating in theatre arts, including:  Improving innovation and creativity; helping set people apart in the world in the professional world.

 Theatre and storytelling support the learning and retaining of content.

 Increasing empathy and compassion by helping youth understand the motivations and feelings
of others.

 Helps with motor skills.

 Actively teaches collaboration and teamwork.

 Improves confidence.

 Increases social interaction and self-esteem

 Generates connection to everyday life

Ultimately, we hope it provides access and cultivates a passion for theatre arts for young people, who are our
future artists, advocates, and theatergoers.

This after school enrichment opportunity starts in a few short weeks! Space is limited to 20 4th and 5th grade students. If interested in joining, email Dr. Z at danielle_zuroweste@dpsk12.net today!
