Send Us Some 2nd Grade Friends!

We are so grateful to be able to share that we are currently fully enrolled at our ideal student enrollment across all grade-levels, except for 2nd grade! We have 6 available seats in our second grade and we would appreciate your help in filling them.

A fully enrolled school is a fully funded school and we thank you for your advocacy on behalf of our school. If you know of a family that shares our values, please send them our information. Any interested family can fill out a Round 2 School Choice Application as we will be making seat offers on a first come, first served basis.

Dora Moore Back to School Night / Meet Your Teacher / Popsicles on the Playground Event: Thursday, August 15, 4:00pm - 5:30pm

We will publish more details in the next few weeks, but please make plans to attend this event in its entirety.

Middle school families and students are required to attend the middle school meeting from 5 - 5:30. If you know ahead of time that you are unable to attend with your middle school student, please email jillian_watson@dpsk12.net to set up an alternate time to hear middle school updates and sign the family-student contract. All families who are unable to attend this session will be required to meet with the middle school team and sign the family-student contract prior to the first field trip on 8/26,

2024-2025 Bell Schedule

Planning to Ride a DPS School Bus to Dora Moore?

All families interested in having their student ride DPS transportation to and/or home from school must fill out an Exception Request form each year. Eligibility for transportation does not carry over year to year.

To learn more about how to submit an Exception Request form via the Parent Portal, visit this link:

https://denverpsco.sites.thrillshare.com/o/transportation/page/exception-request-process

Please know that students are only provided transportation if they live within our enrollment zone. Furthermore, our DPS bus only makes five stops within our boundary and families wishing to ride the bus must be able to access these safe locations at the correct arrival and departure times to participate in transportation.

Pay Your School Supply Fee

We do school supplies a bit differently here than most schools. To reduce waste and over purchasing as well as lessening the burden of time and money on families, we collect a small school supply fee of $30 per student from families and we provide ALL supplies needed for each and every student for the year. A backpack and a water bottle are the only items families need to provide for themselves for the first day of school.

The school supply fee has been added to each student's respective MySchoolBucks(MSB) account. Please create/login to your student’s MSB account through the DPS Parent Portal to pay: https://www.dpsk12.org/page/pay-online

Discovery Link Registration

Dora Moore provides fee-based before and after-school care for ALL students ECE-8th grade through our Discovery Link program. This is unique to our school as most do not provide care for ECE programs--We do! We also provide some scholarship support on a sliding scale and participate in CCAP to support families in accessing extended care opportunities.

Visit the DL website here to register for before and after-school care for next school year. New DL families will need their student's school ID number to register for Discovery Link. Visit DPS’s Student ID Retrieval tool here to look up your child’s ID number. If you need additional help with your Student ID number, reach out to our secretary, Ms. Bianka, at 720-424-5300!

Class Lists & Teacher Assignments

Students and families often want to know which class they will be in--we totally get it! However, due to Round 2 School Choice ebbing and flowing throughout the summer it is our policy to not publish class lists until the second week of August after we have a much firmer understanding of our enrollment numbers. Our goal is always to create balanced and equitable classrooms to support each student’s success. Look for an email from us in the second week of August with more details as we get closer to the start of the school year!

Though we do not take family requests for class placements, we do carefully consider the needs of each classroom and reserve the right to make changes as needed.

Kindergarten note: In an effort to balance both kinder classrooms to provide optimal learning (and fun!), we will be keeping our class lists flexible during the first week. As Mrs. Ott and Mrs. Schafer get to know each student, observing their strengths and needs, they will decide if any switches need to take place in order to create two balanced classroom communities. Parents/guardians will be notified if their student will be switching classrooms by Friday, August 23rd. Thank-you for your flexibility!

Sincerely,

Mr. Abram Janson
