Dear Dora Moore Families,
We are committed to keeping you informed about events that impact our school and students. I am reaching out today to keep you informed of an incident that occurred during school today.
Shortly after lunch a student became extremely ill which resulted in the student being taken to the hospital by Denver Paramedics. Staff were made aware of the student’s condition after reports of the student looking pale and in an altered mental state. The student then repeatedly vomited in class. Due to the student’s condition, we immediately called 911 for EMS support. We placed the building into a ‘hold’ which means that all students are to remain in the classroom to keep the hallways clear to allow for emergency personnel unobstructed access and to protect the privacy of the involved student. After emergency personnel left, we lifted the ‘hold’ and returned to normal operations.
At this time, it is unclear as to what caused this.
We take the safety and well-being of our students very seriously. These incidents can be troubling for students that witnessed it. We have a school psychologist and social worker who are available to support students if ever needed.
As always, should you have any questions you are welcome to reach out to us at abram_janson@dpsk12.net and jillian_watson@dpsk12.net.
Sincerely,
Abe Janson, Principal
Jillian Watson, Assistant Principal
