See You Tomorrow at Back to School Night Event--Starts at 4:00pm

Dear Dora Moore Community,

 

We have just 5 days until school officially resumes for Kindergarten - 8th grade and 6 days for the start of ECE!

 

Three important items for you: 

 

  1. TOMORROW, August 15th, Back to School Night (the event formally known as ‘Popsicles on the Playground’)

    1. You will notice that we have had a number of playground construction projects take place over the summer and most notably the installation of our brand new turf field. It’s looking sharp out there! Unfortunately, the construction projects are not quite done which means we need to pivot our plans away from our usual event on the playground. This means the playground will be locked and not accessible for anyone tomorrow night. 😔 We'll make the best of it though! The playground will be completed and functional by the first day of school. 

    2. This event will now be inside--Please enter through Door #1. We will have a detailed schedule for you when you arrive, but see the summary below for your planning purposes. We have planned the evening to help support families with students in multiple grade bands, and hope you are able to meet all classroom teachers and get key information to support your students’ learning!

      1. 4:00 - 4:30: ECE - 3rd grade drop ins (visit ECE - 3rd grade teachers)

        1. Visit your classroom, meet your teacher, and hear teacher introductions at 4:10 and 4:20. If you have multiple students in ECE - 3rd grade, you can continue to visit teachers and classrooms after 4:30.

      2. 4:30 - 5:00 4th/5th grade rotations (visit all 3 of your child’s 4th/5th grade core classes)

        1. Follow your child’s 4th and 5th grade core schedule to meet each teacher and hear subject-specific updates. Start in your child’s homeroom (posted outside room 208), and spend 10 minutes in each class.

          1. 4:30 - 4:40: Homeroom/Core 1

          2. 4:40 - 4:50: Core 2

          3. 4:50 - 5:00 Core 3

      3. 5:00 - 5:30: All middle school families will meet in the auditorium to learn about middle school specific updates and hear from the middle school teachers. This meeting is required for middle school families and contains important information for the 24-25 school year.

    3. When families have visited their teachers/classrooms, please join us in front of the school by the flagpole for popsicles, music, and socializing!

  1. Class Lists: All students have been assigned homeroom teachers in our Infinite Campus (IC) system. Families can view teacher assignments through their Parent Portal account. Due to student privacy concerns, we are not able to send out entire class rosters for families to view.

    All class assignments will also be available at our Back to School Night event on August 15th!

  2. Missing Registration: We have a large number of families who have not yet completed their registration for this school year. It is essential that all students are registered before the first day of school. Additionally, Ms. Bianka will be available during our Back to School Night event to support in-person registration needs as well.

Please be on the look-out for comprehensive first day of school logistical info such as parking, drop-off/dismissal directions, breakfast, etc. in the next two days.
