The Stories Our Crowns Bear
In keeping with our annual tradition, please considering joining Dora Moore families in honoring Black History Month through supporting and attending the Denver School of the Arts (DSA) Black History Month performance and showcase.
Please join the Dora Moore community on February 12th at The Denver School of the Arts as we embark on a journey of three stories that intermingle to form an exploration of the Black experience. A young girl’s journey to find her birth parents and her “real” family becomes a touching adventure. The script also explores the derivation of Jazz and Scat music and its influence on the music scene. The third set of characters experience an interracial love that collides with cultures of their families. These worlds are explored through music, dance and the spoken word.
The Denver School of the Arts Black History Theatre Company has prepared a student-written, student-produced, and student-performed original musical story.
The show begins at 7pm. Dinner will be provided beforehand beginning at 6pm at the Denver School of the Arts 7111 Montview Blvd.
*The PTSA will be covering the cost and buying theater tickets and the optional dinner for anyone who would like to attend. We have attended the last two years and the production put on by these students has been mind blowing and incredibly moving. We would love to share it with anyone interested. Please note, we do need to buy tickets so an accurate head count is required.
Please RSVP to Falon Bird birdfamilyacct@gmail.com. Let her know if you want both dinner and tickets or tickets only and how many of each. We hope to see you there!
