Nominate Your Student for Gifted/Talented Screening

If you are interested in having your child (1st, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade only) take the CogAT assessment this spring, please complete the nomination form. This nomination form is for families seeking Gifted and Talented (GT) identification.

Applications can be found at  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScunmyJy06R1QW-BL3tv8DpV566k_YgwuXUa6g8spX0JrYj7g/viewform.

Applications for testing are due by Friday, October 13th. Students can only take one cognitive assessment per calendar year, so if your child was already given the NNAT or the CogAT in the fall, they cannot be assessed again this fall. During the fall semester, DPS students enrolled in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 6th grades are tested with the NNAT or NGAT as part of the universal screening process; those families do not need to submit this form unless their child was not assessed during the fall screening. If you have any questions, please contact kelsey_muellner@dpsk12.net

Collaborative School Committee (CSC) Meeting; Tuesday @ 4:30pm

The first CSC meeting of the year is taking place virtually on Tuesday at 4:30pm. All are invited to attend and we need your voice and engagement!

What is a Collaborative School Committee?

The Collaborative School Committee (CSC) brings together families, staff and community members to create and implement a plan to promote high achievement within a school. This committee meets on a regular basis throughout the school year and is an opportunity for key stakeholders to have a voice in their school. Colorado law requires all schools to have a CSC to increase the amount of accountability and family involvement in our schools.

What is this group responsible for doing?

This group works with school leaders to provide feedback on important school decisions. These decisions may include ways to improve academic performance, budgets, and the school’s program.

Why does my school have one?

Every school in the Denver Public School system has one. Colorado law requires all schools to have this kind of group to increase the amount of accountability and parent involvement in our schools.
