School Tours and Open House for New Families

In pursuit of our goal of a fully enrolled school, which leads us to a fully funded school--We will be offering school tours for new and prospective families! Please spread the word! The most impactful gift you can give us as a school is your support and recommendation to families you know in the neighborhood and the city that do not yet attend Dora Moore. Please spread the word!

  • We will be hosting in-person school tours each Friday of December and January at 9:15 a.m.  No need to register--Just join us in the main office (Door #1) @ 9:15 a.m.!

  • On Wednesday, December 14th we will be hosting an open house from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Thank you!

So Many Extended Learning Opportunities! We Are Ensuring School Is Fun!

We believe…

  • That being in partnership with the greater Denver and Capitol Hill community through diverse community and business partnerships that extend our learning experiences on and off campus enriches our grade-level curriculums and develops 21st Century skills.

To that end, our goal is for every class to participate in one field trip/off-campus learning experience and/or on-campus community partnership each and every month. Additionally, due to our unique location in the center of the city, our older students often walk or take RTD for transportation.

It is so fun to see the joy, excitement, and curiosity on their faces as they see and learn new things. Experiences just in the last week:

  • 7th and 8th grade went rock climbing at Movement Gym

  • 5th and 6th grade went Skiing at Loveland on a tour bus!

  • 4th grade went to see one of their classmates perform in a play at the DU Newman

  • 3rd grade went to see Little Red at Denver Center of the Performing Arts

AND...

So far in the 2022-2023 school year, we have had students engaged in learning at:

  • Denver Botanical Gardens
  • Denver Aquarium
  • Main Central Library, Denver Public Library
  • Hudson Gardens
  • The Urban Farm
  • Denver Water
  • Denver Art Museum
  • Randy Weeks Conservatory Theater
  • Movement Climbing Gym
  • Clyfford Still Museum
  • Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities
  • Loveland Ski Area
  • Cheeseman Park
  • Denver Children’s Museum
  • Slow Food Cooking Classes
  • The Perfect Petal Flower Shop
  • Girls, Inc.
  • King Sooper's
  • Denver Center of the Performing Arts
  • University of Denver; Newman Center

School should be fun and we are proud to keep this in focus!

More to come in 2023!

Friday is Hat Day!

As a school, we try to infuse some fun with "Spirit Days" before each longer break. So... Friday is "Hat Day!" Students are encouraged and allowed to wear a hat of their choice all day. Hats should not be a distraction to learning--if they are, we will ask students to remove it and put it away.

We are excited to everyone in their favorite cap!

Increases In Respiratory Illnesses

To help mitigate potential outbreaks please we will continue to utilize the following steps:

  • Parents/guardians must keep their students home from school if they have been diagnosed with RSV or if they are experiencing many of the common symptoms (cough, stuffy/runny nose, fever, fatigue).
  • Students will new onset respiratory symptoms will be sent home and asked to stay home for 72 hours or until symptom free for 24 hours--Sick students do not belong at school
  • Students, staff, and visitors are encouraged to wear a mask if they are comfortable with one, however, masks are not mandatory for anyone.

Thank you for your help and support in keeping everyone safe and healthy!

Donations Needed: Warm Clothes and Coats!

In partnership with the PTSA, we are setting up a free clothing store at Dora Moore!  We are collecting clean, gently used or new clothes and coats for families in our community. If you have items you would like to donate, they can be dropped off in the front office! Our social worker, Josh Konz, our school psychologist, Sarah Cherabie, and our school nurse, Erin Brandt, are working to coordinate!

If you or your family are in need of these type of resources, please email Josh Konz at joshua_konz@dpsk12.net to get connected!
