DM Is Now On IG!

As we continue to find ways to market our school and share all of the amazing things taking place inside, we have decided to dip our toes into the social media space. Follow and share for updates!

The #1 way we attract new families is by word of mouth and first-hand accounts and recommendations. Our online presence is #2! Spread the word!

Attendance Goal & Absence Impact

One our three major improvement strategies this year is centered on increasing our overall attendance rate for students and working collaboratively with families to remove barriers for students to consistently attend each and every day!

Our students are amazing and we miss each and every one when they are not in attendance! The impact of a positive school culture and best first instruction in our classrooms can only be realized with regular and consistent attendance.

Success will look like:

  • all students attending school 95% of the time or higher throughout the entire school year.
  • students arriving at school on time daily and staying for the entire seven-hour instructional day without being picked up early.
  • the school team, which includes all staff and teachers, proactively works with families to remove barriers to student attendance.
  • creating a system of monitoring attendance and following-up with families to discuss the impact of missed instruction and co-create a plan to increase attendance.

Currently, our attendance rate so far this school year is 87.8%.

Our lowest attendance rate is currently in Kindergarten at 82.4%.

We have 69 students that have missed 6 or more days already this year--That is almost 1 absence per week of school.

There are no easy fixes and solutions--Life is complicated, but we have to have all families' partnership in getting students to school each and every day. Josh Konz, our school's social worker, will be sending out attendance warning letters this week to ensure families are aware of their absenteeism and each of our legal obligations to ensure students are attending school. If there are barriers you may need help overcoming, please reach out to Josh joshua_konz@dpsk12.net to seek some support!

Thank you for partnering with us!

CogAT Assessment Opt-In

If you are interested in having your child (1st, 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade only) take the CogAT assessment this fall, please complete the nomination form. Applications can be found at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScunmyJy06R1QW-BL3tv8DpV566k_YgwuXUa6g8spX0JrYj7g/viewform. Applications for testing are due Friday, October 14th. Students can only take one cognitive assessment per calendar year, so if your child was already given the NNAT or the CogAT last spring, they cannot be assessed again this fall. If you have any questions, please contact janette_draper@dpsk12.net

Last Call for the DPS 'Your Voice/Tu Voz' Surveys

The “Your Voice/Tu Voz” surveys for students, families and staff launched on Monday, Sept. 26. Student and staff surveys were to their DPS email address. Families can access the survey link via email sent through SchoolMessenger, in the Parent Portal, and at dpsk12.org/survey. The Team DPS survey includes CollaboRATE engagement questions. ALL surveys close on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Dora Moore has only had about 8% of our families take this survey so far. Let's hit the 50% mark by tomorrow!
