Good evening, Denison Montessori community. September 15th marked the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month. We want to acknowledge our community members who celebrate this month and encourage students to bring artifacts from home to share with their classroom communities. We are sharing stories that honor Hispanic people and culture, encouraging children to learn about Spanish speaking countries, and highlighting notable Hispanic Americans. If you would like to share ideas or resources to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, please reach out!

Attention to Attendance: Did you know that you can use your child’s parent portal account to report student absences? If you don’t choose to report an absence through Parent Portal, please be sure to call the attendance line (720-424-8094) or email Mrs. Alice at alice_cothran@dpsk12.net. Please continue to support your child in attending school daily and arriving on time, which is by 8:30 for students in 1st - 6th grades, and by 8:40 for students in ECE3, ECE4, and kindergarten.

Families of Denison Montessori will host the 4th annual Fun Run this Friday, September 29th. Please check out this document for details on the event schedule and how to help your student raise money for our school. Please check out this flier, with information in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese, to see how you can get involved and support Denison Montessori.
We will have our first monthly acknowledgment of strong student attendance for the month of September coming very soon. Students who met or surpassed our school goal of 95% attendance and 2 or fewer tardies for the month of September will earn a ticket to the Colorado Rapids home game on October 21st. Parents/guardians can purchase discounted tickets to accompany them. October’s acknowledgement for meeting our school attendance goal will be a free child’s meal at select IHOP locations.
State count day for attendance is Monday, October 2nd. Please be sure to have your student in school this date to be counted by the state of Colorado. Student attendance on this date is used for funding at the district level. If your child is sick and needs to be absent this date, please be sure to report the absence using one of the methods listed above.
Denison is getting an outdoor classroom space. Construction was originally scheduled to be completed over the summer, but instead it will be starting this week. Please respect any areas on the south side of our campus (in the space called the habitat garden) that are fenced for construction while this project is completed. Thank you for your cooperation while this project gets underway.

Denison Montessori and DPS are asking all families to fill out the You Benefit! form (formerly referred to as the Meals Application) for the 2023-24 school year if you have not yet done so. By completing the form, you will help Denison Montessori access all available funds to cover the cost of meals, and other nutritional programs for students. Families who fill out the You Benefit! form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more! All household income information provided through this form is strictly confidential and protected by law. Only one form is required for all children in the household. Immigration, migrant, citizenship or refugee status is not required when completing the form.
