Good evening, Denison Montessori community. We are excited to have our ECE4 students join us tomorrow which means we will finally have all our students coming to school. This will impact available parking, so please be sure you don’t park in the Kiss and Go lane or on Jewell Avenue, keep an eye out for street sweeping days, and be prepared to park and walk a little farther than you might have needed to the first two weeks of school. If there is a community member who would like to learn about becoming a crossing guard, please reach out to me at nfickes@dpsk12.net.

During the school day, Colorado preschool licensing requirements mandate that playground equipment be reserved for students who are being supervised by staff during their school day. This means that families may not use playground structures or equipment once they have signed their children out for the day unless it is before 8:30am or after 3:15pm. Please contact the main office with any questions. Thanks!
Every year, parents have the opportunity to complete the Behavioral and Emotional Screening (BESS) that helps us determine how to best support our students’ socio-emotional needs. The window for completing this short screening is now open through Friday, October 18th. You can find directions and a QR code for the survey here or at tinyurl.com/bessparent . You will need your student’s ID number to complete this survey. You can look up your child’s ID number through DPS’s Parent Portal. Thanks for your help!

Back to School Night will be held from 4:30 - 6:00 on Thursday, September 5th. This is an adult only informational night and childcare will be available. The event will start on the front lawn at 4:30 with school leadership, specials teachers (PE, Art, Music, and STEM), and specialists (Special Education, Social Work, ELD Resource teachers) ready to meet you and share information about their classes. Beginning at 5:00, homeroom teachers will share information with families. Each teacher will offer 3 short sessions, 5:00 - 5:20, 5:20 - 5:40, and 5:40 - 6:00. If you would like childcare for Please sign your child up for Back to School Night Child Care so we can ensure we have enough supervision available for our students. Childcare is provided for Denison students only. We appreciate your cooperation and will see you on September 5th! Thanks!
Fall individual school pictures as scheduled for Tuesday, September 24th and Wednesday, September 25th. The flyers and order form are attached to this email. Orders can be placed online at Mylifetouch.com using EVENT CODE HDWQSSTVE. This event code will be active until September 27th. Should you miss this deadline, your next opportunity to order will be when your child receives his/her proofs. DPS’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) department is providing a Calm & Kind Family, Enhance your Family’s Mental and Emotional Well-Being resource to all families and guardians. Research shows the top concern of parents today is children and teens struggling with anxiety and depression. This program is designed to equip parents with the tools to support their children emotionally in three key areas: Mental Health, self-regulation, and managing your own emotions. The program dives into how mental health impacts your child’s success in school and overall well-being. You’ll learn practical strategies to help your child manage their emotions in healthy ways. By learning to regulate your own emotions, you can provide calmer and more effective support for your child. These courses are offered in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese (coming in 2025). There will be 4 one-hour sessions on November 4-7, February 3-6, or March 3-5. Virtual and In-Person options available. Contact FACE@dpsk12.org or 720-423-3054 with any questions.
