Good evening, Denison Montessori community! We had a fantastic first week with our kindergarten through 6th grade students! We can hardly wait for our ECE students to join us over the next two weeks so our community can be complete! We are also happy to share that our new music teacher, Mr. Doug Jackson, started last week.

Once we get a bit farther into the school year, we will try to make our Denison Digests shorter. We have so much information to start the year we know it can be a bit overwhelming! Thanks for taking the time to read all of the details and reach out to the main office if you have any questions!

Every year, parents have the opportunity to complete the Behavioral and Emotional Screening (BESS) that helps us determine how to best support our students’ socio-emotional needs. The window for completing this short screening is now open through Friday, October 18th. You can find directions and a QR code for the survey here or at tinyurl.com/bessparent . You will need your student’s ID number to complete this survey. You can look up your child’s ID number through DPS’s Parent Portal. Thanks for your help!

Back to School Night will be held from 4:30 - 6:00 on Thursday, September 5th. This is an adult only informational night and childcare will be available. The event will start on the front lawn at 4:30 with school leadership, specials teachers (PE, Art, Music, and STEM), and specialists (Special Education, Social Work, ELD Resource teachers) ready to meet you and share information about their classes. Beginning at 5:00, homeroom teachers will share information with families. Each teacher will offer 3 short sessions, 5:00 - 5:20, 5:20 - 5:40, and 5:40 - 6:00. If you would like childcare for Please sign your child up for Back to School Night Child Care so we can ensure we have enough supervision available for our students. Childcare is provided for Denison students only. We appreciate your cooperation and will see you on September 5th! Thanks!
FDM COMMUNITY MEETING UPDATE! FDM is excited to bring back in person meetings! The meetings will be held the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:30pm in the school library. The first meeting will be on September 19th. Come learn more about school events, fundraisers, and other ways to support the school and our amazing teachers. We are always looking for volunteers and new ideas. Language interpretation services are available. Children can attend the meetings.
Fall individual school pictures as scheduled for Tuesday, September 24th and Wednesday, September 25th. The flyers and order form are attached to this email. Orders can be placed online at Mylifetouch.com using EVENT CODE HDWQSSTVE. This event code will be active until September 27th. Should you miss this deadline, your next opportunity to order will be when your child receives his/her proofs. The proofs will have a unique access code and portrait ID# that can be used to place your order. Should you have any questions regarding orders please contact Lifetouch Parent Line at 1-800-736-4753.
DPS’s Community Hub provides essential services including a food mini market, a marketplace for clothing and supplies, support with benefits applications and energy bills, a mobile health clinic, and financial classes. These services are designed to meet various needs and enhance community well-being. Our southwest hub is right down Jewell at Johnson Elementary. Please see the attached fliers for more information!
