Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!  We would like to warmly welcome our new students and families joining the Denison Montessori community.   We are also thrilled to see our returning children and families very soon!  This is a long Denison Digest with lots of information about the upcoming school year.  

 

Please be sure to read all of this Digest and visit the links included so you have answers to many of the questions you may have about the upcoming school year!  We are excited to see your children very soon.

Denison Announcements

  • In-person registration will be taking place August 7th & 8th from 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. in Denison’s library.  Class lists will be available at registration.  

    • Wednesday, August 7h: Primary (ECE3, ECE4, & Kindergarten) Students & Their Siblings*

    • Thursday, August 8th: Upper & Lower Elementary Students (1st-6th grade)*

  • Please note that children cannot start school without completed registration forms! Please call the Denison office at (720) 424-8080 with questions after August 2nd.

  • Parents: Please bring updated immunization information with you to registration.

  • Parents: We will be collecting your $50 classroom donation. 

  • First day of school is Monday, August 19th for 1st through 6th grade.

  • Kindergarten students will start on Tuesday, August 20nd

  • All four year olds will start on Tuesday, September 3rd.

  • Three year olds will be phased in the week of August 26th.  You will receive your start date from the teacher by August 21st.

  • If you have completed registration online, please bring your confirmation page.

  • Please note that we will be able to help you register your child more efficiently if you come to registration on your designated date.

  • Over the summer, Ms. Patricia Horn made the difficult decision to retire after a long and dedicated career to the students and families of Denison Montessori.  We wish her the best as she begins her retirement.  While this was hard news to learn, we are excited to announce the return of Ms. Bami Adeosun as the Lead Primary Teacher for the students in room 112.  Please continue reading to see other new staff we are welcoming to Denison this year.

  • We have some new staff to welcome to the Denison Montessori community this year.   Please introduce yourselves to them and help each of these individuals feel welcome!

    • Lisa McGrath, Long Term Sub, Upper Elementary 106 (Ms. Kat is scheduled to return from her maternity leave following Fall Break.)

    • TBD, Music teacher (Unfortunately, the teacher we hired in June was unable to stay with us for the upcoming school year.  We are interviewing a candidate this week, so keep your fingers crossed!)

  • Please review the linked information about school drop-off and pick up routines and times for the 2024-2025 school year in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.  These are the same as last year!

 

  • Did you know that your student’s attendance can impact their socio-emotional and academic growth?  Studies have shown that students who miss multiple days of school per year are at risk for reading below grade level.  Denison Montessori wants to support all students’ regular, daily attendance.  Please review our updated attendance guidelines, available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese, for information about state, DPS, and Denison Montessori attendance policies.  

  • If your family needs assistance in getting your child to and from school every day, please pick up information about our SchoolPool program.  We are pleased to partner with Schoolpool, a free program to make it easier to get to school.  Signing up is simple, just email the main office for the link to get started.    

  • Before and after school care is available for all Denison students through DPS’s Discovery Link program.  You can register online or reach out to Maria Trujillo, Denison’s Discovery Link Program Supervisor, at maria_trujillo@dpsk12.net. 

  • Denison Montessori is excited to announce the return of after school enrichment programs that are available to all of our students.  Please read the DENISON FALL ENRICHMENT BROCHURE 24 to see if there is a course that interests your child.  Scholarships are available, please see the link at the bottom of the introduction page for information on how to apply.  Please e-mail enrichment_extendedlearning@dpsk12.org if you have any questions!

  • Looking for ways to get involved at Denison Montessori?  Our Collaborative School Committee, also called the CSC, is looking for family representatives.  This committee engages in strategic planning and decision making for our school and meets regularly once a month after school.  During the budget season, which is mid January through early February, more meetings may be required.  All parents are invited to join and interpretation and childcare is available if needed.  The meetings are open to the public if you want to check it out before deciding.  If you are interested in learning more, please contact Ms. Natalie at nfickes@dpsk12.net

  • DPS’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) department is excited to kick off the 2024-25 school year with giveaways and fun! The FACE team has school supplies and resources at no cost to families. Please see this English flyer or this Spanish flyer for more information.  Please RSVP here!

  • You may have heard that all complete  breakfast and lunch meals will continue to be free for the 2024-2025 school year.   This means that it is still important to collect a You Benefit! meal applications for all new-to-district students and for any families who may not be receiving social services benefits. If we don’t do this, we may lose the ability to provide free meals to all students.  All household income information provided through this form is strictly confidential and protected by law. Only one form is required for all children in the household. Immigration, migrant, citizenship or refugee status is not required when completing the form.

  • Ngày 7 tháng 8, Đăng ký: Học sinh Tiểu học (ECE3, ECE4 và Mẫu giáo) và Anh chị em ruột của các em*

  • Ngày 8 tháng 8, Đăng ký: Học sinh Tiểu học Trên và Dưới (lớp 1-6)

  • Ngày 15 tháng 8, Chào đón Học sinh Mới, Lớp 1 và lớp 4: Chi tiết sẽ được giáo viên của con bạn chia sẻ

  • Ngày 20 tháng 8, Ngày đầu tiên đi học: Lớp 1-6

  • Ngày 21 tháng 8, Ngày đầu tiên đi học: Mẫu giáo

  • Tuần của ngày 26 tháng 8: Học sinh ECE3 bắt đầu đi học, chi tiết sẽ được giáo viên của con bạn chia sẻ

  • Ngày 2 tháng 9, Kỳ nghỉ Lễ Lao động: học sinh hoặc nhân viên không đi học

  • Ngày 3 tháng 9, Ngày đầu tiên đi học: ECE4

  • Ngày 5 tháng 9, Đêm Trở lại Trường: 4:30 - 6:00, chi tiết sẽ sớm được công bố. Sẽ có dịch vụ trông trẻ, đăng ký sẽ sớm được công bố

Ngày 22 tháng 9, Ngày Chuyên nghiệp: học sinh không đi học
