Denison Digest: Week of September 9th

Good evening, Denison Montessori community! It was great to see so many of our families at last week’s Back to School Night! We hope you learned a little bit about your child’s classroom and what they will learn this year. We will be sharing more about opportunities to observe in your child’s classroom a little later this semester once students have learned the routines of the school day, so watch for more information about that later this month.

Please be sure to pick your child up on time each and every day. Our main office closes at 3:40 daily and when families are late to pick students up, it places a burden on our office staff. Late pick up more than twice per semester can lead to fees for supervision, as outlined in the Late Student Pick Up section of the Denison Family Handbook. If you know you will be after 3:35 on a regular basis, please enroll your child in Discovery Link, our before and after school care program. You can find information on Discovery Link at this website. Thank you for your help with timely daily pick up.
Denison loves being able to provide students with supervised recess starting at 8:05 before school. If you are the parent or guardian of a preschool or kindergarten aged child, please be sure that you are actively supervising them while using the playground equipment designed for older children. They don’t use the larger playground during the day and may not be as familiar with how to stay safe while playing. We appreciate your partnership in keeping children safe on the playground.
The first Collaborative School Committee Meeting of the year is scheduled for this Tuesday, September 10th, at 4:15 pm in the Dr. Martha Urioste Library. If you are interested in being a part of Denison’s strategic planning, please consider joining this group. Spanish interpretation will be available. You can preview the agenda for the meeting here.
Every year, parents have the opportunity to complete the Behavioral and Emotional Screening (BESS) that helps us determine how to best support our students’ socio-emotional needs. The window for completing this short screening is now open through Friday, October 18th. You can find directions and a QR code for the survey here or at tinyurl.com/bessparent . You will need your student’s ID number to complete this survey. You can look up your child’s ID number through DPS’s Parent Portal. Thanks for your help!

Fall individual school pictures as scheduled for Tuesday, September 24th and Wednesday, September 25th. The flyers and order form are attached to this email. Orders can be placed online at Mylifetouch.com using EVENT CODE HDWQSSTVE. This event code will be active until September 27th. Should you miss this deadline, your next opportunity to order will be when your child receives his/her proofs. The proofs will have a unique access code and portrait ID# that can be used to place your order. Should you have any questions regarding orders please contact Lifetouch Parent Line at 1-800-736-4753.

Asegúrese de recoger a su hijo a tiempo todos los días.
