Good evening, Denison Montessori community. Thank you to those of you who were able to participate in the first ever Coffee with the Principal last Friday. I look forward to continuing these meetings on the last Friday of each month for the remainder of the year.

Last Friday afternoon we were able to celebrate the Lunar New Year with two assemblies showcasing the Lion Dance and questions about Lunar New Year with the Guiding Mountain Dragon & Lion Dance Association. Our students asked great questions, learned a lot about traditions related to Lunar New Year, and truly loved the Lion Dance!

With the start of February, we celebrate Black History Month. As Dr. Alex Marrero recently shared over the weekend,“Black history is DPS history. I invite you to join Denver Public Schools in deepening your personal awareness of the multiple facets of Black determination, resilience, and perseverance against all odds as we work together to lift all students toward a bright horizon. Stay tuned to the DPS social media pages and newsletters for Black History Month spotlight stories highlighting our remarkable students and staff.”

DPS has shared this Family Resource Toolkit, which is available in English and Spanish, and contains information and resources about rights, current DPS policies, training, mental health support, DPS resources, community resources and more. To request the toolkit in another language, please email office_communications@dpsk12.net.
The last two tours for prospective families during the first round of school choice are scheduled for February 6th (currently full) and February 12th (a few spots remaining). The details on how to sign up for a tour are in the mark your calendars section.
Families of Denison Montessori is hosting two fundraising events during the month of February. On February 7th, our sixth grade students and FDM would love for you to join them for a movie night after school in the gym. Admission to the movie is free and snacks/drinks will be available for purchase. Snow Much Fun will take place on February 19th from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. All inclusive Bracelets will be on sale beginning Monday February 3rd in Denison’s main office for $12.00. There will be food, games and fun for all. Please reach out to fdmontessori.com with any questions.
Looking for help getting your student to and from school or want to find them a buddy to commute to school with? Denison Montessori is pleased to partner with Schoolpool, a free program to make it easier to find members of our community looking to arrange a carpool in order to get to and from school. Signing up is simple! Please see the attachment for more information.

Buenas noches, comunidad Montessori de Denison. Gracias a todos aquellos que pudieron participar en el primer Café con la directora el viernes pasado. Espero continuar con estas reuniones el último viernes de cada mes durante el resto del año.

El viernes pasado por la tarde pudimos celebrar el Año Nuevo Lunar con dos asambleas que mostraron la Danza del León y preguntas sobre el Año Nuevo Lunar con la Asociación de la Danza del León y el Dragón de la Montaña Guía. Nuestros estudiantes hicieron excelentes preguntas, aprendieron mucho sobre las tradiciones relacionadas con el Año Nuevo Lunar y realmente les encantó la Danza del León.

Con el inicio de febrero, celebramos el Mes de la Historia Afroamericana. Como compartió recientemente el Dr. Alex Marrero durante el fin de semana, “La historia afroamericana es la historia de DPS. Los invito a unirse a las Escuelas Públicas de Denver para profundizar su conciencia personal de las múltiples facetas de la determinación, la resiliencia y la perseverancia de los afroamericanos contra viento y marea mientras trabajamos juntos para llevar a todos los estudiantes hacia un horizonte brillante. Tôi mời bạn tham gia cùng Trường Công lập Denver để nâng cao nhận thức cá nhân của bạn về nhiều khía cạnh của sự quyết tâm, khả năng phục hồi và sự kiên trì của người da đen trước mọi nghịch cảnh khi chúng ta cùng nhau nỗ lực đưa tất cả học sinh đến một chân trời tươi sáng.
