FDM’s School Budget Communication to the Denison Community

Hello Denison Community,
On January 23, 2025, Denison’s Collaborative School Community (CSC) was tasked with balancing Denison’s budget from Denver Public Schools (District) for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. The CSC is made up of Ms. Natalie, Dension teachers, Denison parents, a community member, and a representative from Families of Denison Montessori (FDM). Going into the 2025-2026 school year, Denison has a $176,737 deficit, which specifically includes $106,879 from the loss of Title 1 status.
During this budget meeting, the CSC made the difficult decision to cut a full-time teaching position to help balance the budget. Even after cutting a teaching position, the deficit was still $64,651. To maintain vital student services at Denison during the next school year, FDM has pledged $22,000 towards the budget deficit.
FDM is 100% committed to supporting our school community and wanted to be transparent about our decision to divert 56% of our current funds to keep our school operating during the next school year. Ms. Natalie has also requested budget assistance from the District and we are optimistic Denison will receive some or all of the money requested, which could restore the full-time teaching position and reduce what FDM has to contribute.
