Denison Attendance Team Updates
01/22/25, 2:33 PM
Good afternoon, Denison Montessori community. Our attendance team wanted to give everyone a few updates about how we are progressing toward our attendance goals so far this year.
-
Denison Montessori’s daily attendance goal is 93% daily attendance. At the beginning of this week, our school’s daily attendance rate for the year was 92%. This is 1% higher than this time last year.
-
Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10 percent or more of the days in a school year for any reason, including excused and unexcused absences. DPS set our chronic absenteeism goal for 36% or fewer students, and our attendance team has been working toward having 30% or fewer of our students qualify as chronically absent. At the beginning of this week, our school’s chronically absent rate was 33%, which is 4% lower than this time last year.
We recognize many barriers can impact student attendance. To ensure families have resources they need to help get their child to school regularly, our attendance team will share resources with families monthly through the Denison Digest. for the remainder of the year. If you have concerns about how sick is too sick to send your child to school, please contact our nurse, Katherine (Grace) Robertson at katherine_robertson@dpsk12.net
You can check your student’s attendance rate for the year by logging in to your Parent Portal account. If you would like to collaborate with our attendance team to support improved attendance for your child, please contact Ms. Natalie at nfickes@dpsk12.net.
