Good evening, Denison Montessori community! We hope your family enjoyed the mini-Fall Break last weekend. If you didn’t participate in a parent-teacher conference for your child last week, be sure to check in with your child’s teacher to schedule a conference this week. Another way to get engaged with Denison Montessori is taking place this week - be sure to mark your calendars to attend FDM’s Harvest Festival on Saturday!

October is Bullying Prevention Month. Please take a few minutes to read this article, Kind vs Nice. It explores important differences between being kind versus being nice and how adults can support children in becoming truly kind. “On the surface, an act of kindness can look similar to an act of niceness, but the motivations behind the two acts are very different, and the energy around the acts is also quite dissimilar.”

The main office has noticed an increase in the number of students who arrive late for school. Please be sure to plan to have your 1st-6th grade students at school by 8:25 am and that ECE3, ECE4, and Kindergarten students arrive at their designated doors by 8:40 every day. Having your student arrive on time with their classmates helps to set them up for success.
Denison’s CSC met last week. You can review the agenda and minutes from the meeting here. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, with a new meeting start time of 4:00 p.m.
Reminder: The staff parking lot is reserved for staff members only. Family members should not park in the lot. Staff members have recently reported that they have been blocked in by cars that don’t belong to staff, which prevents them from leaving when their work day is finished. We appreciate your help in preserving the parking lot for staff members at all times.
Every year, parents have the opportunity to complete the Behavioral and Emotional Screening (BESS) that helps us determine how to best support our students’ socio-emotional needs. The window for completing this short screening closes this Friday, October 18th. You can find directions and a QR code for the survey here or at tinyurl.com/bessparent . You will need your student’s ID number to complete this survey. You can look up your child’s ID number through DPS’s Parent Portal. Thanks for your help!
The DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” Family Survey is now open through Friday, Nov. 1. This survey focuses on measuring outcomes across the district and the feedback provided directly impacts students and families. Families can access the survey link here.
