DSST: Elevate Northeast High School

Elevate HS Dress Code

08/21/23, 4:36 PM

Hello Bulldogs and Families,

We are excited to welcome students back this week. We recognize that some of our dress code policies were not clear to students and families going into this year and we wanted to ensure that we are all in alignment. We appreciate your partnership and flexibility.

Dress Code

Tops

  • Any appropriate top– does not have to be a DSST top like middle school

  • No undergarments should be visible

  • Tops and bottoms must be touching all the way around

    • No crop tops

    • No sagging pants

Bottoms

  • Bottoms that fully cover undergarments (no part of underwear, undershorts, or bras can be showing).

    • Please keep in mind activities that may take place during the school day (PE, science lab activities, building temperature) as you consider your clothing choices.

Shoes

  • Any close-toed shoes are allowed, including Crocs.

  • For potentially hazardous labs/activities, shoes ‘must completely cover the foot’ according to Flinn Scientific lab guidelines. Therefore, no Crocs or sandals are allowed during some labs/activities decided at teacher and school discretion.

Headwear and other accessories

  • Hoodies are allowed, but no hoods can be up on any student at any time.

  • Headcoverings (hats, beanies, bonnets and du rags) are allowed.

  • Head coverings cannot be distracting to the learning environment and cannot cover student’s ears so staff can determine if earbuds are being used (The exception to this is religious head coverings).

All dress must be appropriate and schools hold discretion. Attire that promotes inappropriate topics, including: violence, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, gangs, sex/nudity, or anything else deemed derogatory or harmful, is not permitted.
