Good evening, Denison Montessori. I hope you had a moment to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision and messages as a part of your long weekend. Our Denison community works together every day to help our students celebrate and embrace our diverse students and families. We thank you for your support of this work.

I wanted to let you know that I will be in the building on Tuesday this week then out the rest of the week. I have an outpatient medical procedure scheduled for Wednesday and will need Thursday and Friday to recover. I plan to return to the building on Monday, January 23rd. Ms. Tori Cadle and Ms. Tara Crewe will be serving as teachers in charge in my absence should you require any assistance while I’m out. Thank you for your understanding as I work to take care of my health.

Ely Lovell, Denison’s school psychologist, will host the first TSEAL Coffee talk of the semester on Friday, January 20th, at 9:30 a.m. in Denison’s libary. We hope to see you there!
To ensure the Social Emotional well-being of our students, we have been implementing a universal social and emotional screening for students called the BASC-3 BESS (Behavior and Emotion Screening System). Students 3rd-6th grade will complete a self-report, and parents of students ECE-6th can complete a parent questionnaire, using a link provided below. Universal social and emotional screening can provide a fair and impartial way of looking at how students are progressing in their social and emotional development. Screenings can also help identify areas where school personnel can improve or adjust our supports. For more information and to fill out a questionnaire for your student (ECE-6th grade) please click for English, or Español. Please complete the questionnaire above by Monday, February 7th, 2022. If you would like your child to OPT OUT of the universal social and emotional screener, please click for English, Español, Tiếng Việt. Denver Montessori Junior/Senior High School will be hosting a Deferred Enrollment Night on Tuesday, January 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. Please see the attached flier for more information. Lower Elementary families, our Lower Elementary classes will be hosting Watch Me Work Night on Wednesday, February 8th. Please watch for more information coming soon.
In conjunction with Lower Elementary’s Watch Me Work night, our community partner Montessori on Wheels will be bringing the Montessori bus to Denison on February 8th. We will share more details about this visit as they become available.
DPS’s Southwest Community Hub is hosting a new cooking classes for DPS families. Please see the attached flier for more information.
Save the Date! Please hold Thursday, February 2nd, at 5:00 p.m.,for a community education night. Childcare will be provided and Spanish and Vietnamese interpretation will be available. This session, presented by a local organization called Educational Access Group, will present information focusing on how the brain develops, functions and is impacted by stress and trauma. The presenters will discuss how stress can be both positive and negative in our children’s development and how adults can better understand and support children in regulating, building skills and forming relationships. Content will be based in both the Neurosequential Models of Education and Therapeutics as well as on everyday application with youth and educators.
