KIPP Denver Collegiate High School

Secure Perimeter Update 12.11.23

12/11/23, 3:55 PM

December 11, 2023

Dear KIPP Denver Collegiate Team & Family,

As you know, student safety and their well-being are our highest priorities at KIPP Colorado. With that in mind, I am writing to inform you of a report of an outside threat that placed KIPP Denver Collegiate High School on a secure perimeter. The Denver Police Department received a report of an active threat and immediately placed our school on a secure perimeter and police officers entered the building. The DPD determined that there was no active threat and immediately lifted the secure perimeter.

We have proactively communicated with all students around the incident and are sharing here for our wider community. We want to assure all families that there is no active threat.

Our top priority at KDC is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students. We are committed to safety in all parts of the school experience, and that means responding to incidents like this in a timely way.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

In Partnership,

Jess Simpson

Principal of KIPP Denver Collegiate High School
