Platte River Academy will be closed on Thursday, November 7th, 2024 due to weather and road conditions. All after care and school activities are canceled. 

The Douglas County School District will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 7th due to severe weather conditions across many parts of our county. 

Before and after school care, as well as all events, after-school activities, and facility rentals are cancelled.

Our snow team is continuing to monitor the storm. We will provide any updates on our website, social media, and our mobile app.

Trying to predict the weather (even with help from experts) isn’t always easy. And today we heard from many of our staff and families that a delay was not enough. We had hoped that a delay would provide time for roads to be cleared - however the snow accumulation and subsequent road conditions were worse than anticipated. 

The forecast shows that the snow is going to continue into tomorrow. This means, we are expecting icy road conditions tomorrow morning, and with the snow expected to continue throughout the day, we don’t believe another delay will be sufficient. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, the Douglas County School District will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 7.
