Traffic Safety and Crossing Guard Reminders!

Ensuring the safety of our students is paramount at Dora Moore, and this extends beyond the school gates to their journeys to and from campus. As we strive to maintain a safe environment for all, we kindly request your cooperation in promoting road safety and respecting our dedicated crossing guard.

With the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to overlook the importance of pedestrian safety, especially during peak school hours. Therefore, we urge you to prioritize caution and vigilance when crossing the street with your children. Here are a few reminders to help keep everyone safe:

  1. Obey Traffic Rules: Always adhere to traffic signals and signs when crossing streets, ensuring that both you and your children wait for the appropriate signal before crossing.

  2. Use Designated Crosswalks: Encourage the use of designated crosswalks at all times. This not only enhances safety but also sets a positive example for our young learners.

  3. Stay Alert: Remain vigilant and attentive while crossing the street. Avoid distractions such as mobile phones or conversations that may divert your attention from potential hazards.

  4. Respect Crossing Guards: Our crossing guards play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our students. Please show them the respect they deserve by following their instructions and patiently waiting for their signal before crossing.

  5. Lead by Example: As role models for our children, your actions speak louder than words. By practicing safe road behavior, you instill valuable habits that will stay with them for life.

Together, let's make every effort to create a safe environment for our students both within and outside the school premises. Your cooperation and commitment to road safety are invaluable in safeguarding the well-being of our entire school community.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Janson and Mrs. Watson!

A to Z Grant Award: DM Discovery Link

Dora Moore's Discovery Link Program and Ms. Jay were recently awarded a grant from the Denver Public Schools Foundation to support onsite learning experiences for our after school program students. This award came from the Denver Public Schools Foundation’s A to Z Grant Program, which funds materials, resources and opportunities that fall outside classroom budgets, and have a lasting impact on students. The A to Z Grant has funded more than $2.95 million to schools in DPS since the program’s inception in 2006. You can learn more about DPS Foundation and support the A to Z Grants on their website

The A to Z Fund is funded through collective donations made to the DPS Foundation from organizations, companies, individuals and foundations. Every dollar makes a difference in the support of our educators and students.
