Rocky Mountain Human Services (RMHS) Family Supports for Summer
As the school year nears conclusion, RMHS can provide supports to students and families of children with identified developmental delays (under 5) and diagnosed intellectual developmental disabilities (5 or over) during the summer months and all year long! RMHS is also home to case management services for children in need of long-term care support through Medicaid waivers.
RMHS Family Support and Mill Levy programs can provide resource and funding support to families, living in Denver County, for a variety of needs including summer camps, recreational and social programs, as well as therapeutic services.
Families can contact the DPS RMHS Liaison Hollyanne Watton (hwatton@rmhumanservices.org), call the intake line @ 303-636-5600, or visit the RMHS website (https://www.rmhumanservices.org) for more information!

Bell Time Changes for 2022-2023 & 2023-2024 School Years
Earlier last week, the district confirmed the bell times for 2023-2024 under the Healthy Start Times Resolution. You can see all DPS’ school start times at this link. It has been confirmed that Dora Moore will be a late start school in 2023-2024 (two school years from now) under the resolution and have a 9:00am-4:00pm bell schedule.
We are already currently working on redesigning many systems, structures and schedules for the next school year (2022-2023). Since the late start is now confirmed and inevitable, it makes the most sense to opt-in to a late start for the 2022-2023 school year in order to build sustainable systems and schedules that will last us for more than just one year.
Dora Moore’s bell time for the next school year starting in August 2022 will be 8:50am and dismissal will be at 3:50pm.
We know this update comes as wonderful news for many families' personal schedules and at the same time will be frustrating for others as it does not work well for them. This is the same for our staff. I am acutely aware that there is no perfect solution, especially without the autonomy to make our own choice regarding bell times. We know that with these changes, we have to build a system that provides free before school drop-in care starting around 8:00/8:15am and that we also have to offer more comprehensive before school care through a separate provider like the YMCA that starts as early as 6:30am.
We have a lot to figure out in the next couple weeks before the end of the school year given the timing of this announcement, but we wanted to get the word out as soon as possible so that families could begin to plan for these significant changes. More to come very soon about before and after school care options and sign-ups.
If you have any questions about the new schedule at all, please feel free to contact Abe at abram_janson@dpsk12.net.
