Director’s Note

College View Middle School Families,

We are very excited to report that we have received a green rating on the Denver Public Schools Performance Framework. This is the highest school rating that you can receive, and we saw incredible academic growth from our students last year. We also are happy to report that our students who speak multiple languages had the highest growth in all of DSST, and we outperformed the state average by 7%.

Our first Coffee with the Directors was a success. Thanks to the 47 families who came, and I encourage everyone to come to the next meeting in October.

Some families have asked about our start time and have shared concerns about students being outside without adult supervision. If your student has a sibling at the High School, they can enter and sit in the commons supervised by a member of our admin team at 8:25. We cannot supervise outside until 8:45 because of having a limited number of staff members available in the morning. If your student does not have a sibling, please bring them between the times of 8:45-8:55. If you need a specific accommodation for your student to enter at 8:25 and they do not have a sibling at the High School, please call the front office to make a request and we will work with you!

Sincerely,

Graham Wynings, School Director

  • As a reminder, October Count is the official student membership headcount for all Colorado public school districts. When students are enrolled, scheduled and in attendance as of the official count day, the district receives an average of $8,400 in per pupil operating revenue. The revenue that schools receive help with student activities, field trips, equipment, supplies and much more. Students SHOULD be present on Monday Oct 2nd so that our school gets the correct funding for all students. Please support us in ensuring that your student is present for October Count Day.

Announcements

Traffic Safety

As the academic year begins, busy parents and school buses will add to traffic congestion, making school zone safety very important on our campus. Please follow these school guidelines for drop-off and pick up to keep our students and each other safe:

  • Drivers should obey all traffic laws, including stop signs and allowing the pedestrians the right of way in crosswalks

  • Drivers should drop off students next to the curb and then pull into the left lane to keep the traffic moving

  • Pedestrians should cross at crosswalks and make eye contact with the driver of a car before crossing in front of it

  • Cars should not be parked in the fire lanes for an extended amount of time.

  • We ask that you only use the fire lane as a "kiss and go" lane, not as parking

Please always remember to be kind and respectful to each other!

Parking Updates

  • The administration has made a decision to number all parking spaces and assign them to teachers and staff. Please do not park in a numbered space in the main parking lot or the parking lot by the cafeteria. Please use the visitor spaces when visiting campus. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
