🏀Basketball Games
Blue used a total team effort to play their best game of the season. EVERYONE contributed in some way and they got their first win vs. McKinley Thatcher. AJ Hilburn was the player of the game. A short handed White team started off slow and had to adjust to people in new positions, but played hard until the end. They played great defense in the 2nd half. Sophia Kucera was the player of the game. You can see the full schedule of games here.

Stop, Think, Act!
Does the action meet the reaction?
We often see a big reaction in kids because they react without thinking. If someone steps on my toe, should my reaction be to push that person? No, that would be an overreaction.

Stop: Pause for a moment before you react.
Think: What really happened? He stepped on my toe. Am I ok? Was it an accident?
Act: Make sure your reaction is equal to the action. The correct reaction might be to say excuse me, or let them know calmly that they stepped on my toe.

If someone calls me a mean name is an appropriate reaction to physically harm them? No, that would be an overreaction.

Stop: Pause for a moment before we react.
Think: What really happened?? They called me a mean name. Am I ok?
Act: Make sure our reaction equals the action. We could ask them to stop, use a Power Phrase to tell them you do not like it, or walk away. You can also always find an adult to help you with any of these appropriate reactions.

Please practice at home with your student on actions, and equal reaction. You can make it a silly and fun game by seeing if we can have an equal reaction and then an exaggerated reaction. Trade places and let them observe you having an equal reaction and on overreaction.

Making sure that we know how to respond in difficult situations helps us understand how to react in social situations better. When we are in control of our reaction we will build better relationships with friends and classmates.
