✋Volunteers Needed
  • We need volunteers to help with organizing and managing clothing. It would be 1 hour per day and have flexible days. We are ok with a job sharing as well! If you're interested, please reach out to Jean at JTSBoylan@gmail.com
McMeen in the News
CBS is doing a multi-part series on McMeen — highlighting our teachers and families — and how it is handling the influx of new-to-country students. We are honored to serve these students and proud of how our staff, students, volunteers and the community have pivoted and rallied to welcome and support these families as they adjust to life in the U.S. You can find all the articles to-date here.

Job Fair
There is a job fair coming up on January 30th that includes top employers like Walmart, Hyatt, and Denver Public Schools. For more information, contact hseiden@jewishfamilyservices.org or at 720-248-4644.

Resolving Conflict - We understand that everyone feels comfortable resolving conflict in their own way. However in order for a community to develop in a safe and productive way we have to have a few norms around conflict resolution and what that looks like.
Mixing so many ages and cultures can sometimes make conflict resolution hard. Here at McMeen we have tried to set some norms around how we resolve conflict.

    • First we try to use words. If we can express our needs to each other we can sometimes decrease having any conflict in the first place. Remember that No is a universal word that most people understand. If you are unable to communicate due to language barriers a simple no can help.
    • Second, we walk away. If we are becoming frustrated and our feelings are becoming bigger sometimes we need to take some space before we can use our words. If we can walk away before the conflict becomes too big, it is an easier problem to solve.
    • Third, we get an adult to help us. Adults can help us use our words to solve a problem.

The more we can empower our students to use these three steps at  home and at school the faster they will become the routine to solve conflict! Please help your student practice these three steps when conflict arises.
If it is a norm students will be more confident to handle their problems with safe bodies and calm words.
