Happy Thursday McMeen Families!

It's going to be a busy couple weeks at McMeen! Here's what you need to know.

1. We need volunteers to help at Winter Festival (12/14) + we are seeking donations for our themed basket raffle — each grade has a different theme. Please help as you are able. Volunteer Signup | Raffle Donation Information
2. Read-a-thon runs through December 10. We are doing great on reading minutes (students have logged 20,000+ minutes on the Read for My School app) Remember to ask friends and family support your child in their reading goals. Need draft email language? We've got you covered!
3. They're a lot of fun events coming up in the next two weeks including Multilingual Bingo Night tonight, Family Movie Night tomorrow, and McMeen Eats @ Chipotle on Tuesday. More event details below.

DECEMBER

🎥 McMeen Family Movie Night - TOMORROW!
When: Friday, December 1 @ 5:00-7:00 PM
Details: The featured movie will be Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken. Popcorn, Cookies, Chips & Lemonade will be available for sale. All students must be accompanied by an adult. More Info.

🗓 CSC Meeting
When: Monday, December 4, 2023 @ 4:00-5:00 PM via Zoom (Click to Join)
Details: This month's Collaborative School Committee (CSC) agenda includes discussing the family engagement survey results, McMeen's School Determined Funds, and a school update will be provided.

🍽 McMeen Eats @ Chipotle
When: Tuesday, December 5 @ 4:00 - 8:00 PM
Where: Chipotle, 820 S Monaco Parkway, Unit 1B

🗓 PTO Meeting
When: Monday, December 11, 2023 @ 6:00 PM via Zoom (Click to Join)
Details: PTO meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:00 PM via Zoom. Translators provided upon request.

❄️ Winter Festival
When: Thursday, December 14 @ 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Details: Winter Festival is an all school celebration hosted by the McMeen PTO. It provides an opportunity to bring our community together and also to raise money for McMeen. 🏀 Basketball Registration - Now Open
McMeen is launching two athletic teams for 4th and 5th graders through ELCSports — basketball this winter and flag football this spring. Registration for Winter Basketball is Monday November 27 - Friday Dec 10. Practices will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:50 - 4:20 pm. Games will be played on Wednesdays. The season runs 1/8 - 2/23. We are also seeking coaches and referees. 📖 Scholastic Winter Book Fair
The Scholastic winter book fair is 12/4-12/8. Volunteers are most needed for setup (12/1) and breakdown (12/8). Sign up to volunteer.

Don't have the bandwidth to volunteer but want to help? There are other ways! Make a donation to the PTO. Contributions help fund school projects, events, and scholarships. McMeen Elementary PTO is a 501(c)3 organization and contributions may be tax-deductible. Make a donation here.

Businesses can support McMeen through the new sponsorship program. 100% of the money raised by the PTO sponsorship program for the 2023-2024 school year will fund fund teacher grants, programs, and classroom resources at McMeen Elementary. The McMeen Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) exists for the purpose of supporting the education and well-being of children at McMeen by fostering relationships among the students, families, staff, and community. This mission is accomplished through volunteer support, fundraising efforts, community-building events, and teacher and programmatic support. Membership is free and open to all McMeen families and staff.
