Happy Thursday McMeen Families!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the McMeen Eats @ Birdcall event on Monday. Here are your PTO cliff notes. More details and announcements below. Have a wonderful fall break!

1. Remember to track reading minutes and ask for Read-a-thon donations over break! So far students have logged 10,000+ minutes on the Read for My School app which lets families track minutes and receive donations. Details on how to sign up your student here: English | Spanish.
2. Winter Festival is Thursday, December 14 from 5-7pm. We are seeking volunteers to staff the event, plus donations for our themed basket raffle. Flyer | Volunteer | Raffle Donation Information
3. They're a lot of fun events when we return from break. Details below.

DECEMBER

🌟 Multilingual Bingo Night
When: Thursday, November 30 @ 5:00-6:30 PM
Details: Pizza will be sold for $1 a slice. Free water and lemonade. Feel free to Bring your own dinner or snack.

🎥 McMeen Family Movie Night
When: Friday, December 1 @ 5:00-7:00 PM
Details: The featured movie will be Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.

🍽 McMeen Eats @ Chipotle
When: Tuesday, December 5 @ 4:00 - 8:00 PM
Where: Chipotle, 820 S Monaco Parkway, Unit 1B

❄️ Winter Festival
When: Thursday, December 14 @ 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Details: Winter Festival is an all school celebration hosted by the McMeen PTO. It provides an opportunity to bring our community together and also to raise money for McMeen. 🏀 Basketball Registration - Nov 27
McMeen is launching two athletic teams for 4th and 5th graders through ELCSports — basketball this winter and flag football this spring. Registration for Winter Basketball is Monday November 27 - Friday Dec 10. Practices will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:50 - 4:20 pm. Games will be played on Wednesdays. The season runs 1/8 - 2/23. We are also seeking coaches and referees. 📖 Scholastic Winter Book Fair
The Scholastic winter book fair is 12/4-12/8. Volunteers are most needed for setup (12/1) and breakdown (12/8). Sign up to volunteer.

Don't have the bandwidth to volunteer but want to help? There are other ways! Make a donation to the PTO. Contributions help fund school projects, events, and scholarships. McMeen Elementary PTO is a 501(c)3 organization and contributions may be tax-deductible. Make a donation here.

Businesses can support McMeen through the new sponsorship program. 100% of the money raised by the PTO sponsorship program for the 2023-2024 school year will fund fund teacher grants, programs, and classroom resources at McMeen Elementary. The McMeen Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) exists for the purpose of supporting the education and well-being of children at McMeen by fostering relationships among the students, families, staff, and community. This mission is accomplished through volunteer support, fundraising efforts, community-building events, and teacher and programmatic support. Membership is free and open to all McMeen families and staff.
