Attendance
McMeen is working with the district to address attendance concerns. When students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind other students. This can mean just missing two days a month. Our overall goal as a school is to get to a 95% attendance average. Below is a breakdown of this week's attendance by grade-level compared to last week's attendance. As you can see, we have some work to do.
Generation Teach STEM Academy (GTSA) for all 5th-7th Graders
GTSA is a free full-day camp for all DPS students in 5th-7th Grade that runs June 14-July 21. Breakfast and lunch are provided, as well as transportation to/from local middle and elementary schools. Students will take classes in engineering, math, reading, and law and will have afternoon enrichment classes in art, sports, games, and movement. They also will conduct field trips and fun Friday activities. Learn more here: English, Arabic, and Spanish.
Summer Academies Opportunity for incoming 4th-8th Grade Boys
Sims Fayola will once again be hosting their annual Fayola Man Summer Academies! The Sims-Fayola Foundation Empowerment Zone camp for incoming fourth- and fifth-grade boys will be held June 20-July 21 at Wyatt Elementary School from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Fayola Summer Leadership Academy for incoming sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade boys will be held June 12-July 7 at Vista Academy from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
