 Ways to Get Involved

Bike Tire Tubes

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

See the info below!

Recess Volunteers

We are always looking for recess volunteers. Our recess runs from 11:30-1:10 everyday. We are happy to help you find the time your child is at recess if that is something you are interested in. The general idea is to provide a time for families to come and volunteer at recess and provide extra supervision. The sincere hope is that this is a fun way to support the school. We have put together a Guide for Playground Volunteers in EnglishSpanish, Arabic, and Farsi that goes over some basics of how to get started. Please email Stacy West if you are interested at stacy1west@gmail.com.

Announcements

Character Parade vs. Halloween

We want to clarify that we are NOT participating in any Halloween festivities at McMeen this year.  We will continue our tradition of having a Character Parade. Students may dress up as their favorite book character on Friday, October 28th. Please help to make sure costumes are appropriate and do not include masks as many children get scared when they see masked figures. We will leave celebrating Halloween up to parents outside of the school day.

E. Tennessee and S. Oneida St. Stormwater Project

New stormwater pipe and infrastructure improvements are planned to begin at Lollipop Lake in Garland Park and the Cherry Creek waterway in Phase 1 of a multi phased project that will extend to E. Tennessee Avenue and S. Oneida Street. There is a virtual community meeting about this project on Thursday, November 10th from 6-7pm. You can join virtually via Zoom at bit.ly/wvvstormwater or call in at 1-719-359-4580 Meeting ID: 882 3350 9405. Here is more info (we are working on getting these translated to Spanish and Arabic): Meeting Notice and Project Information Sheet.
